I began my yoga practice in 2001 while attending Texas Tech University as a collegiate golfer to help strengthen my body and increase flexibility. Later on, I worked as a personal trainer specializing in corrective/functional exercise realizing just how much yoga truly benefits all movement patterns. I started Yoga Teacher Training in the fall of 2012 and completed my training in early 2013, completing Jonny Kest’s LifePower Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) 200-hour certification and smoothly transitioned into the teaching community.
I had been pursuing my RYT 500-hour certification but put a hold on it to have a baby and raise my family of five. On the mat, I bring my passion for mind-body awareness, guiding students to discover themselves in a new light, encouraging them that anything can be done with practice, patience and mindfulness. Knowing the importance of proper engagement, I focus my attention on a strong foundation and core but enjoy keeping the practice light and fun.
I am trained to teach Vinyasa Flow, Basic/Root, Yin/Relax, Ashtanga and my personal favorite, Slow Burn. I recently achieved Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) status earlier this year, clocking in over 1000 teaching hours. Along with yoga, I hold additional certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) and a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES).
